Having a step target is one of the best ways we can accurately keep track of your general activity levels.
As mentioned in the video on NEAT, staying active day to day is a hugely effective tool when it comes to fat loss, and has a bigger impact on your overall energy expenditure than your training programmes.
Your step target will be determined by your current level of activity.
It is important to track because when people start training consistently and eating in a calorie deficit it is easy to subconsciously decrease your level of general activity in a day.
Whether it is because you are aching from training, or your body is trying to preserve its energy, it has been shown to happen. By keeping track of a daily step target you can ensure that your general activity levels stay high.
Sticking to this daily step target as well as your calorie target is enough to ensure you start losing body fat.
