My Notes

All you need to use MyFitness Pal for is logging and reviewing your food diaries. MyFitness Pal is a phenomenal way to keep a food diary.

However, when you set up a MyFitness Pal account, you go through a process that requires you to enter your goals so they can give you an initial calorie target.

When they ask you what your goal is, if it is fat loss, they will ask you how much weight you would like to use, and naturally most people choose as much as possible, and their limit is 2lbs a week.

To lose 2lbs a week, you need to be in a 1000 calorie deficit every single day. Which for the majority of people is going to leave you with a really low calorie target – most likely 1200. Which is unsustainable.

The whole point of this programme is that it creates a sustainable way of living for you, that maintains your results and goals long term.

The calorie target I give you will be higher, and I know it may seem so high that it couldn’t possibly even work. But I assure you it will be the correct target for you to get results.

People are so used to such ridiculously low calorie targets and low calorie diets, that when they are given a reasonable target, it seems too high.

Having a higher calorie target means you will be able to make and sustain your progress, long term, and it is having the higher calorie target, that enables you to make progress whilst still living a lifestyle you enjoy, rather than feeling deprived, starved and restricted – the normal joys of being on a diet!
