My Notes
Now I want you to think about why these specific goals are important to you.
There are so many reasons why these goals are more important than just numbers. To give some examples from people I have worked with in the past:
It might be, you want to get back to your old weight because you remember how much better you felt then, you were more outgoing, had more energy and you miss that version of yourself.
You want to feel confident around your partner, enjoy going out with friends and feeling great in your clothes and have amazing photos from holidays to look back on.
It might be that you want to lose weight for your health, because you are concerned that you won’t get see your family grow up
I don’t want you to put wishy washy answers here this is a serious part of the process.
Please be honest with yourself. There’s a reason why you want to make a change, don’t do yourself a disservice and pretend like it doesn’t matter.
Once you’ve acknowledged the importance of your goals and written it down, things become a lot more real.
Now when you’re thinking, why do I want to do this, or contemplating is it worth the effort, you can make the connection with these reasons WHY your goals are so important to you, rather than just the numbers used to measure them.
Often people can find they are more easily motivated working away from pain, than working towards pleasure.
So you may contemplate the things you felt when reflecting on how you feel at the moment and say well, I know what I don’t want and how I don’t want to feel
I don’t want to feel fat, or I don’t want to look like this anymore and so on
However I would advise you to focus more here, on the positives you are working towards, as spending too long reflecting on where you are now, can leave you feeling more demoralised than anything else, and result in you not taking any action at all!
So take your time to answer the question, there is no rush. Write down all the reasons WHY your goals are so important to you
