My Notes
I will give you an example to help give you an idea of what I mean.
In 10 years’ time, having accepted being overweight, unfit, and low on confidence, you haven’t progressed in your career as much as you would have liked because you didn’t have the confidence to go for the promotion, you know you deserved.
You don’t feel comfortable in your body, so you sleep next to your partner fully clothed every night and you haven’t had sex in months.
You feel so unfit that when your kids ask you to play in the park, you have to lie and come up with a reason to not go like you’re too busy.
You rarely go out with your friends because it is too hard to find something to wear and you don’t want them to comment on your weight again, and you don’t really have any photos from holidays because you don’t like the way you look in them.
Now this might sound extreme, but from my experience of working with people, this is the reality for a lot of people’s lives.
When you realise that improving your health and fitness and achieving your goals, can have this profound impact on the rest of your life, all of a sudden it becomes much more important than just losing weight.
So have a think, maybe think worst case scenario.
How you feel now, multiply it, compound those feelings 5/10/15 years down the line and think about all the potential ways that might impact your life. Write them down.
Please don’t underestimate this question.
Again, this is not an exercise to make you feel bad about yourself, it is to help you realise just how important these things are to you and recognise the impact they could be having on your life.
What will be the consequences of not achieving your goals in the next 5/10/15 years?
