My Notes
Firstly you will need to set up an account. If you haven’t already got an account, please set one up now. Once you have one, you are ready to continue.
MyFitness Pal is a free app to use so don’t worry about any hidden costs. They do have a premium version, with some extra features, however from my experience it is not something you need to invest in.
Once you are logged in, you are going to click on the more button – the button with 3 dots.
That will open up a menu. On this menu you will see the word – goals.
Click on the goals button, and on the next page you will see a section called nutrition goals.
Click on the button below – titled calorie, carbs, protein and fat goals.
On this page you will see your different goals.
Now these will have been set automatically by MyFitness Pal as you signed up as I mentioned, these numbers aren’t relevant.
Here you are going to change these goals to the ones that have been given to you from my programme.
First click on calories and adjust your target to your given calorie target. Ensure once you have input your target you save it by clicking the tick in the corner.
Now you should see your calorie target has changed.
The next and only other thing you are going to change here is your protein target. When you click on protein it will bring up a sliding scale for each goal.
First adjust your protein % until you get as close to the protein target given to you in this programme.
To save this change you will have to alter the other percentages of fats and carbs to equal 100% before you can save your change again by clicking the tick.
Once that’s done you should see that your calorie and protein target are now set to your targets.
The only thing left to do is ensure you have disconnected your activity tracker.
To do this return to the more menu by clicking the back arrow.
Here you should see another page called steps.
When you click on steps it will open up a page that has options available for you to connect your phones built in step counter, or your own activity tracker.
The last thing you need to do is make sure you have selected “don’t track steps”.
You will know this option is selected if it has the tick next to it.
Now that is complete you are ready to use myfitness pal for your food diaries.
In later videos I will share my tips for using myfitness pal as accurately and efficiently as possible, but for now, step 1 is getting into the habit of using the app and tracking all the foods and drinks you have from now on. Enjoy!
