My Notes
Keeping a food diary is something that I am sure you will have probably done at some point in your life.
But why is it important? Quite often people see a food diary as just another box to tick when they’re on a diet. In reality keeping a food diary is the most essential part of this process.
By keeping a food diary you are actively paying attention to what you are eating, and by doing this you begin to learn more about the foods you eat, things such as their calorific values and their protein content.
You also start to become more aware of your eating habits and where and how you consume the majority of your calories in a day. So often when people aren’t getting results it’s simply from a lack of awareness of their calorie intake.
It’s easy to forget things you’ve eaten throughout a day and It’s easy to be unaware of just how many calories can be in something, that you may see as completely insignificant.
By keeping a food diary using MyFitness Pal, it will bring your attention to these things, and often provide you with some shocking truths, that can quite quickly help you realise exactly where things have been going wrong for you in the past.
Often these realisations bring about the potential for simple changes you can make, that will help you get results, without having to make drastic lifestyle changes that are unsustainable long term.
As well as that, keeping an accurate food diary is the simplest way you can guarantee you’re in a calorie deficit, and going to get the results you desire.
